TASTING EX...PRESS - Blanc de Blancs and Blanc de Noirs: two very different styles

Blanc de Noirs refers to a Champagne made entirely from black grapes (Pinot Noir and/or Meunier). The wines are usually powerful, dense and structured. They have more body and distinctively display what we call vinosity, coupled with intense red fruit scents.
Conversely, Blanc de Blancs only contains white varieties like Chardonnay (and occasionally Arbane, Petit Meslier, Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris). The wine is delicate yet vivacious. It gives the taste buds a wake-up call and mirrors the chalky soils of its birthplace through its mineral aromas (gunflint, chalk…) combined with pleasant salinity.
