Description
The National Archaeological Museum of Verona offers a guided tour to discover the origins of wine consumption in our most ancient past. In fact, the archaeological findings display many aspects of the daily life of the people who inhabited the Verona area in ancient times. An important role was certainly played by wine: it was not simply a drink but soon took on other meanings connected to the social and ritual sphere. We have evidence of this already in some Neolithic sites and then in Bronze Age pile dwellings and Iron Age grave goods.
