About 30% of the world’s native wine grapes are Italian, in fact Italy alone has as many native wine grapes as all the native grapes added together of the three countries that follow in the ranking. Have you ever heard of Arvesiniadu or Malvasia Moscata? Have you had any of their wines? You might know Primitivo, but are you aware of just how different (and why it is) the Primitivo Gioia del Colle is compared to the Primitivo di Manduria? Ian D’Agata, whose books on native grapes and wines have won awards all over the world, will guide us through a unique tasting of grapes and wines, most of which you have probably never heard of.
