Artificial Intelligence (AI) is profoundly transforming many industries, including the wine industry. From optimized vineyard management to the creation of increasingly personalized marketing strategies, AI applications offer new opportunities to improve efficiency and competitiveness. In this context, wine2wine Business Forum 2024 will devote ample space to exploring the potential of AI in the world of wine, with informative and practical insights into how this technology can redefine the future of the sector. As we look forward to Monday, November 4th, and Tuesday, November 5th – the dates of the upcoming Forum – let’s revisit a talk from last year's edition on the same topic.

According to AI expert Regine Lee MW, integrating this technology into the wine business can lead to a significant increase in efficiency by automating repetitive tasks such as demand forecasting and optimizing marketing strategies. However, AI is not without risks, such as misinformation and privacy issues. Lee points out that despite the benefits of these technologies, human intuition and judgment remain critical to ensuring that wine retains its artistic and cultural value.

AI and operational efficiency: saving time and resources

AI is a game-changer for the wine industry, which is currently experiencing a slowdown due to declining consumption and rising costs. Practical applications of AI range from optimizing demand forecasting based on historical data to personalizing marketing campaigns, automating processes based on consumer preferences. This saves companies time and resources, focusing instead on business strategy and production.

Risks and ethical issues

However, AI also comes with risks, such as creating content that may seem authentic but is actually not. Regine Lee emphasizes the importance of ensuring that all information produced by AI is correct, so that the brand is not compromised by biased or falsified data. Specialists must also be careful in data and content management to safeguard brand identity and personal data protection to avoid privacy violations.

The future of AI in the wine industry: finding the right balance

Technology must go hand in hand with the art of winemaking. While AI can simplify and automate some of the repetitive work, winemaking remains an art intrinsically linked to human intuition and creativity. The processes, individual experiences and passion that manufacturers infuse into their work cannot be replicated artificially.

Remember: at wine2wine Business Forum 2024, attendees will have the opportunity to explore how AI is changing the entire wine supply chain. Training sessions, hands-on networking rooms and tasting sessions will be offered to help professionals understand and adopt these new technologies in their daily work, creating a balance between technological innovation and tradition. Please note that tickets for the 2024 edition of the wine2wine Business Forum are still available for purchase online. The program, list of speakers, and details about the new format introduced this year can be found on the event’s website.
